Fatal Hardware failure. Poor thing has got to be 5 or 6 years old and it has worked pretty hard for most of that time, I can't really be surprised.

I think DiskWarrior is doing a good job of backing what files are actually on the hard drive (not much) up to an external hard drive, so that's all right. Now I have to think.

Bah, thinking.

Probably an AppleTV would do the media center portion of the current mini's job well enough and for much cheaper. And I signed up for iCloud and iTunes Match before the crashing started, so getting to those external hard drives is not as critical as it would have been a month or so ago. Hm. Possibly an opportunity for radical change.

This old Nova I'm watching is giving me the idea that maybe I will sort this out during tonight's REM cycles. Wouldn't that be nice?

What was happening with me yesterday? Oh, right:

  • 15:58 Returning to my Smartphone roots, getting a Palm Pre Plus. Used to love my Visor, so I hope this'll work out. #fb

As soon as I pulled the trigger, two people told me that they had been disappointed with the Pre and ultimately had to switch to something else. Hope that is not really representative, as I don't want to be stuck with Verizon for two years for no reason.

Oh well, if the Pre sucks too hard I can always go with a Droid or Cliq or something. Heh, if I get a BOGO deal I could mod the hell out of one, too.

And maybe it won't suck at all. Could happen.
