Stuff. And Also Things.
Jan. 23rd, 2011 01:34 pmTook the Mac Mini over to the Genius Bar where they confirmed it has data architechture, structural, something issues. The software is seriously corrupted. And the disk drive is frelled, which explains why I couldn't boot up from my install discs. They're fixing it, because that's way cheaper than a new mini. I looked at portable external hard drives while I was there - they're very cute and would be practical for taking with the laptop if I were to ever go somewhere. I also liked the under the counter iPad mount, but $70 seems like a lot to free up a little counter space from being temporarily used.
Which reminds me (the possibility of ever going anywhere, that is), the new coffee shop / roastery had it's grand opening yesterday. I didn't go, because I figured there would be a crowd and coffee after 4 pm (when the opening started) is not really a good idea for me. And it's probably later than I want to be drinking coffee today already, too. Tomorrow I'm supposed to start a detoxifying juice fast, but I'll also need to get my bagels boiled and baked (I don't think I should make the dough wait 3 days, though maybe it would be fine sitting in the fridge for that long. My fridge is kind of ridiculously cold for not being a freezer, and my bagels have historically not risen as much as I would like. Hm) and I doubt I'll do that and NOT eat one. But I'll get in there sometime this week and check it out. I have high hopes - it's 3-4 blocks away, conveniently located for visiting during a dog walk and opens onto a courtyard where I certainly hope I can have Walter with me while I leisurely sip a latte. I've walked through there with him on many a morning, but that's been when everything was closed, so I don't actually know the official policy on dogs in the courtyard. I got a sample of their coffee at the Christmas Marketplace and it was yum, so even if it's somewhere I have to go sans chien, I'll probably be spending some time there.
Decided to swing by the cemetery on my way home. It's nice that it's easy enough to get to that I can do that on a whim. H's marker is in place and looks it's supposed to, as far as I can tell. I suppose I should call the memorial chapel and set up the unveiling, but it's still 4 months away so it's hard to feel any urgency about it.
