EyeTV crashed on me on Monday, so I have to watch on abc.com. It's an okay viewer, but I will probably have to suffer through more of the talky bits than I usually tolerate.

So, yeah, a little sad Paulina's gone, but she goes home to Ric Ocasek (I want to say "friend of the show" there, as if I was Stephen Colbert), so I can't feel to bad for her.

First up: Shandi, who I'm told is also on Lingo, doing the Jive: I love the Jive. Fun to do, fun to watch. She's nice and crisp, but still looks like she's doing a bunch of steps rather than dancing. I can't pin down what I mean by that anymore than that, I'm afraid. It's early days, though, she could get over that.

John's Tango:
mmm, tango. Oooh, nice costume on Edyta. He's not keeping his knees bent. Mostly showing her off, which is okay, I guess, but I'm not loving it.

The online viewer is giving me one dance, one ad. I don't know if that's how the broadcast went, but I kind of like it.

Clyde's Jive: Too bad they can't do lifts, he would really be able to toss his tiny partner around impressively, I bet. Oddly, he's atoo smooth - he's doing all the kicks and everything but it's not hoppy ernough, somehow. Seems like a weird thing to complain about in any dancing, but it's just not jivey without the hops. Love his costume, though. Len's right about the lack of toe pointing - that would have made quite a difference, I think.

Laila's Tango: Oh, I expect this to be great. I just love watching her. She's got technique and attitude and just looks wonderful, every time. And I am not disappointed. I thought the judges wouldn't like the break in the middle, but I think you have to blame the professional on that one, he's supposed to know better.

Apolo's Jive: Ha! Cute opening and costumes. And my hair theory gets more ammunition - I like his partner so much better when her hair isn't all fluffy. An issue I need to explore? Who knows. He's still got some skater-y weirdness with his backsteps. overall they looked good, but not as sharp as they should be.

Joey's Tango: Aw, his geekiness is adorkable.  I think he's doing pretty well with his posture, it's hard to tell with the camera work. Cute ending. All the tango music kind of sucks - none of it has felt like a tango, and that make sit so much harder to appreciate the dancing.

Ian's Jive: Oh, yeah! They look like the old WB cartoon dancers, which is what I think the jive should always look like, so that's a compliment. Just about perfect - sharp, right on the music, just great. Too bad he lost his footing there for a second.

Leeza's Tango: Mmm, I like her dress. And finally, actual tango music. John's was, too, and they're choreography was goos. Coinidence? I think not. More rise and fall than I like to see and I just don't love the choreography.  No real complaints, but not really great, either.

Heather's Jive: I have no idea what to expect from this. No idea at all. Anything could happen. She was such a surprise last week. At least she finally has a costume I like. Not bad. Seemed like for of a swing than a jive, I'm not sure how much that matters. Impressive considering the leg problem, certainly.

Bill Ray's Tango: Oh, the cover of the Clash hurts. i usually like the band/singers but this is just wrong. Again with the rise and fall. And he's back to the stomping feet. Nice ending, though.

Do I need to watch the results show? Not right this second, anyway.

We're taking ballroom lessons on Thursday nights, now, and the instructor likes that I watch this show - my understanding the technical stuff from the judges makes his job easier. I won't force DH to watch it with me, though. At least as long as he'll practice the actual dancing...
