DH is in charge of charcoal grilling - I grew up grilling over wood fires in a hibachi, charcoal briquets confuse me. He has a better idea of what a medium heat fire is not, now, that's for sure.

Only one end actually burst into flame. We went ahead and finished it under the broiler, and it was mostly edible. And what was edible was tasty. Once we get past the steep part of the learning curve, I think this'll be a winner.

Ladies who Lunch, er Brunch

la_perkins  and truejavachik  were kind enough to come out to Suisun for brunch yesterday. It was a gorgeous day, we sat out on the Patio at the Cast Iron Grill & Bar and ate and talked and drank champagne (FYI: The champagne Supernova tastes a little like accidentally getting a mouthful of rubbing alcohol. It's possible that this is partially due to my really not drinking hardly at all anymore, but it was pretty nasty. The mimosas were good, though!) for a couple of hours. GOod food, good conversation, just a lovely time.

Oh, that reminds me, I need to eat up the leftover muffins before Passover starts! Delicious delicious burden.

It is awfully nice to put on a pretty dress, walk a few blocks, and have buffistas be there. Just neat. I recommend it.
