Produce Box!
Aug. 18th, 2010 01:46 pmI get a "Regular Mixed Fruit & Vegetable" box delivered from www.farmfreshtoyou.com every four weeks, and this month's just arrived. I guess it is what people call a CSA share, but for some reason that term doesn't sit right in my head.
Anyway, included in this week's deliver: peaches, pluots, grapes, plums, broccoli, zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes (cherry and Roma-looking), lettuce, celery, basil, and an onion. I'll need to pick my tomatoes that are ripe and make sauce, maybe tomorrow. That basil may just turn into pesto for easy storage (I know I have pine nuts lying around).
I've entered it all into the handy Still Tasty app that will remind me to eat things before they spoil, I hope I can keep up. That's a lot of fruit.
Eta: They put a newsletter in the box with recipes and what they're doing at the farm (planting fall crops, right now). One of the recipes is for mashed potatoes with celery. I would never have thought of that, but it sounds delicious. Will have to try.
