Breakfast at Wimbledon
Jul. 2nd, 2011 06:40 amYup, I was up before 6 am on a Saturday so I could watch tennis. Not that I have been watching all along like a real tennis fan. I am easing back into it, I guess. It's only the second set, but I am kind of enjoying Maria Shariipova trailing the young Czech.
Breakfast, by the way, is a chocolate croissants and French Press half-coffee half-Choffy. Yum. Not very British, but it's working for me.
I'm in the middle of a week of dog-sitting. My sister and BiL are at a meditation retreat and we all decided Gina would be better off staying with me and Walter than over at my folks' place with all their new landscaping. It's nice having two dogs, they enjoy each other's company and they're both pretty well-behaved so I don't have to deal with too much in the way exponential naughtiness growth like you sometimes get with dogs egging each other on. It's interesting to see how different they are - Walter is much more apt to wander outside on his own while Gina is more apt to want be wherever I am, stuff like that. We had to adjust Walter's feeding routine (everyone free feeds at my house, usually, but Gina eats on a schedule), but that hasn't been a problem.
The cats are Not Pleased, but not as much as they might have been. I'm using a folding chair as a barricade to give them some dog-free space inside, that seems to be working okay.
I have been foiled in my desire to eat take-out by my preferred local pizza place being closed more often than I thought, but the kitchen is gradually improving anyway. The front yard is not, and it's going to be hot the next few days so I don't know when I will work on it. Oh well.
