Moved In!

The movers have left, all the furniture is approximately where it's supposed to be (except my vanity mirror which I will move with my parents tomorrow), and many boxes are out in the shed so the house is fairly passable. Yay!

I think the biggest excitement of the day was realizing that the movers packed up the key to my bike lock before I had unlocked it from the back stairs. Whoops. We went to Ace hardware and bought some serious snips and an even more serious bolt cutter. Snip through the sheath, cut through the wire, freedom for my bike. How lucky that that was the worst thing to happen, right?

The cats are in the blue room, locked in but free to move around in there, with a clean litter box and fresh food and water. I might leave them in there for the night, I'm not sure. They're pretty mad at me. And they are not meowing to come out. If they do I will probably give them the run of the house. Keeping them inside is hard, but I will try to do it for a day or two.

The dog is curled up by DH's feet. I think he is wondering when we will go home.

Still have the mirror to move, some other small things that got left, and cleaning at the old place. Have a week to do that. At the new, there's just unpacking, some minor furniture moving, an installing the things that cover the borders between different types of floors where they go. And window treatments, but i haven't worked out my vision for those, yet. And setting the new TV up. And connecting the porch light, but that's DH's job.

Washer and Dryer probably gets delivered next Wednesday.

Yay.

The cats seem to be adjusting just fine sans butter. Jadzia is just happily exploring the house (I think she is grateful not to be in the car for a week, again), and Pixie is mad at me but okay with the environment, so I'm thinking that catching her and holding her while putting butter on her paws would be more traumatic than letting her hide under the old rabbit hutch all day as long as she keeps coming inside by dark.

Yay!

Sorry, I'm all chatty on the subject. One of my coworkers moved from the Oakland Hills to Moraga and her cat Ernie got out and disappeared. He reappeared weeks later, thinner, at the old home. He went back over the East Bay Hills!! Good thing there aren't any major roads in that route or he might have been squished trying to cross them.
