Tough Day

It's been a while since I posted. I need a widget that will pick the thoughts out of my brain whenever I think "I should talk about this on livejournal" and post it for me.

The last week has been nice and ordinary. Boxes were unpacked, floors vacuumed, laundry done. I got my new washer and dryer delivered and installed, that was as dramatic as it got. The boat parade/tree lighting/fair a week ago last Saturday was a lot of fun.

Today I got the sad news about Phil. I don't really know what to do with it besides, you know, being sad. I should take the opportunity to reconnect with all the other people I haven't talked to in ages while we are all in a remembering mood, but I am having a hard time finding words and energy.

Oh well. Maybe tomorrow.

I realized that it's been almost two years since I've had to mourn a personal friend. It really sucks that that makes me feel lucky to have had that nice long span.

Stupid mortality.

No kidding. I've got one beloved friend dying horribly and way too quickly of rapid diffuse scleraderma. I've got my best friend in the world, awaiting a biopsy on what may very well turn out to be a brain tumor. I've got one of the people I love best in the world, with her type 1 diabetes, having just had a full lung scan, looking for telltale spots.

This year has had a couple of high spots. The rest has sucked rotten moose poop on toast.
