I might as well just post my opinions as I watch, because I know I will have strong ones. I generally do agree with the judges, but I need to spout off, anyway.

I watch the little clips of the practicing, the dancing (of course), the judges comments and the scores, and skip as much of the rest as I can. I occasionally try to watch live and it's so much harder to get through, so that's why this is going up on Wednesday. It means I can't vote, but I never do. Doesn't stop me from complaining when the masses get it wrong, of course.

Apolo's quickstep: Wow, his posture is so much better! After just one week. He looks really good. His partner still bugs me, but, honestly, I think I just really dislike her hair. It's kind of unfair that they're both so young and athletic and talented - I know they've worked really hard and all, but still, I kind of want to find some reason to take against them. But I can't, at the moment.

So glad I can FF through the inane chatty parts.

Shandi's mambo:
Good lord, she's very tall. Weird that they paired her with a guy that's actually shorter than her, that's gotta make turns hard. She doesn't have the music in her, poor girl. She does the steps and all, but she never looks like she's dancing. Maybe if she gets more comfortable with the technical aspects that'll be come.

Clyde's quickstep:
I'm a little biased in favor of the retired athletes - I'm a huge Jerry Rice fan and Emmett Smith is just lovable and they both did very well, so I've got high hopes for Clyde. They've got that height disparity to worry about, but they can work that to their advantage if they're clever with choreography. it's not helping his posture, though, or his frame. The slow bit in the middle is just weird. He turns beautifully, though. I hope he sticks around at least long enough for me to see him waltz and foxtrot. Heh, the 6 6 6 scores always make me giggle a little.

Leeza's mambo:
I can't stand her. She just bugs me. That said, she did pretty well with this dance. She still looks very tentative, but she's technically pretty good, and she at least smiles and gets a few flourishes in - if she pretends to be having a good timne a little harder, maybe she actually will and that would be fun to see. And, boy, she looks great and is really flexible for being 50. If I skip all the parts where she talks, I almost like her.

Ian's quickstep:
Steve Sanders! If I'd followed his Broadway career, maybe I wouldn't be so surprised by how well he did last year, but he kind of blew me away. And Cheryl always has appealing choreography, really expreses the music well. Yup, very nice.

Paulina's quickstep:
She has such beautiful lines. I guess that goes with being a model. That might not help with the latin dances, though. No, it does. She's got kind of a naive I-don't-know-what-I'm-doing-but-it's-fun demeanor that's very appealing. She really reminds me of whatsername the lead from Guys and Dolls in the Havana number in this routine. Partly the pin-up girl hair and makeup, probably. And she's so happy with her 21, that's great.

Billy Ray's quickstep: I
t seems very unlikely that this will be good, he was so lumbery last week. Oh, Johnny Cash, sweet! Better than last week - much lighter on his feet - and really pretty decent when I stop to think that he's only been doing this for about a month, but he looks like a student and not a performer. Still, a marked improvement in the last week, so he could surprise me down the road. And the ending was pretty great with his little solo. Cute, and well done.

Heather's mambo:
I really disliked her dress last week, and I don't think I like this week's either. She looks good in real life, but her dance costumes are pretty unflattering. It's distracting. Oh, wow, her arms and shoulders are SO MUCH BETTER! Wow. And the pants are growing on me, though I still think the top of her costume is kind of icky. It's the shade of green. I am surprised to report that I think hers was the best mambo thus far. Maybe she was sandbagging last week, or maybe it was just first night jitters, or maybe she can just relax more with a latin dance than a smooth but that was some incredible improvement!

Ratzenberger's quickstep:
It would have been so great if Cliff Claven had come out and been all awesome like J. Peterman. So awesome. But, alas, not last week. I know he stepped in at the last minute, so he didn't have much time to prepare, and he wasn't as bad as some of the clodfoots of years' past. Oh, I love this song, because I do get too hungry for dinner at 8. Etc. Don't hate California, though. Anyway, he's looking nice and effortless and hitting all the footwork - impressive!

Laila's mambo:
She's got the athlete thing going for her, and she was AMAZING last week. it doesn't hurt that she's gorgeous, but she also moves so easily and seems to really feel the music, it's a joy to watch her. NO one knows how to train like a boxer, from what I understand, and she had the technical side down last week. Assuming she keeps on like that I've got a dream DWtS mini-competition: Leila Ali, Stacy Keibler, Jerry Rice, and Emmitt Smith with none of this elimination nonsense. Oh yeah. Back to the present - she looks perfect to me. She could give the professionals a run for their money, really. Damn.

Joey Fatone's quickstep:
You never know with the ex-boy band boys - they seem to tend to flash over technique - but Joey started strong last week. Oh, and he's got another strong start. Excellent first run. They could tighten up the choreography a bit. I don't llike the  little flourishes in the corners, they don't work for me. And he can stop putting his name on his clothes. But overall, very nice.

My favorite is clearly Laila Ali, with Joey Fatone and Apolo Ohno right behind her. I don't know who I want to go - nobody sucks! It's quite the strong lineup this season.

I see it's Paulina who's out. I would have liked to see more of her, but like I said, nobody sucked so I don't know who I'd rather have gone.

Now the only question is, do I bother to watch the results show? Probably not. I didn't record it, and I doubt I'll really care enough to watch it on-line.
