I liked John From Cincinnati. I didn't understand it, but I liked it.
Pretty good digressing right out of the gate, right? Not everyone can do that, it takes practice and possibly inborn talent for digression.
So, anyway, what I meant to say was Got through the last week+ okay. Having my sister here was really nice, she's an easy guest and helped me rearrange the living room (including untangling all the cables of the entertainment center (which is not really centralized but I don't know what to call the loose coalition of entertainment offering components) and getting them all labeled when we plugged everything in again). The unveiling went fine, I think. It's hard to tell, it wasn't really for me - I picked out the marker, after all, and I don't find going to the cemetery sadder or more poignant than anything else I do, so it was just another day with more people in it. I hope it was okay for said people. I still have hummus, chips and cookies leftover from the gathering after. I may have to try to find room in the freezer for some of that. Poor overstuffed freezer.
Let's see, tried to make spelt challah, which mostly worked but didn't hold its shape very well. Also, we went to Ubuntu in Napa on Saturday. Pretty yum! ANd pretty weird. The menu descriptions are kind fo opaque and nothing was quite what we expected, but it was all quite tasty. Our server had only been working there three days and wasn't totally on top of things, but she was trying. Got rained on a bit - we opted for the "garden seating" which is a concrete patio next to a parking lot, but does have a bunch of plants - but were under an umbrella and that was okay. When we took Walter for a walk in the Peytonia Preserve, actually it was on the way back on a city street, we saw a Killdeer and must have been near her nest because she did the full wing-dragging display. Never seen that before, it was pretty cool. Walter did not care at all.
This week I have been headachy and crampy and it has been raining and dark so my motivation to do anything at all has been very low
Mainly, that first year of widowhood is over (mostly, depending on what calendar you use) and I need start being more disciplined and responsible and forward-looking. I was going to go on about that, but I can't get the formatting to work, so, maybe tomorrow. Good start on the discipline, right, putting that off?
