It's 55 degrees in my house. My furnace is not exactly broken, but it's not working quite right - I've cranked the thermostat up to 88 in an effort to get it warmer in here but it keeps shutting off. I think the root pf the problem is that when I changed the filter instead of wedging in a 14x24 filter that is too big for the space, I balanced a 12x24 that is too small but not so small that it falls through (I think I'm supposed to use a 13x24 but I don' want to order a peculiarly-sized filter until I find the owner's manual that I KNOW I have around here somewhere and see exactly what size I need in case it is 13.25x23.5 or something) so as the air comes rushing through the filter sometimes floats a little and probably knocks some of the wiring into the access door just enough so the switch that keeps the thing off when the access door is open thinks it is protecting me. I have tried weighing down the filter with a brick and now I am using that brick to wedge the access door shut. Because when you have a brick all problems look like . . . things you can solve with a brick somehow? I don't know. I'm cold, my brain isn't as sharp as it might be.
