Saints Return to Superdome in Triumph
Sep. 26th, 2006 12:35 pmTriumph, I say! God that felt good.
I am so glad I was in town for that, and got to watch the game at Chez Ingram (even if it is Chez Ingram in exile at our (Henry and my) old apartment, which has layers of weirdness) and with Rob on the phone. Like old times, if not just like. And it's a wonderful thing to be able to go out onto the street after the game and know all the neighbors are smiling about the same thing. I don't know if my neighbors in Cali even watch football, but I doubt they follow the Saints. I miss that communal roar of everyone yelling at the TV at once that we had on this street every Sunday.
Ate breakfast at Slim Goodies this morning. I love that place, have since it opened. They've changed the menu to commemorate Katrina a little bit - for a while they were the only place open for blocks and blocks, and the only thing they served was hamburgers with fries and a drink, so they have that offered as the "Katrina Combo". Warms my heart.
After that we took a drive touring all the places we lived in NO, except one where the road was closed, but Henry claims that one doesn't count because we were never on the lease. I count that one, it was the first place I lived in NO and we were there during Georges, but I'm okay with not seeing it. Most of the places look the same as before the storm. The place we got kicked out of so they could overhaul the whole complex is, in fact, overhauling the whole complex. So that's good, I guess. Our next door neighbor, who really didn't want to leave, still has the same front door, so i'm hopeful that he convinced the owners to let him stay through the construction.

Yesterday we went and played with puppies and held kittens at Zeus' Place. What a fantastic way to reduce stress! And we got to see Michelle and Om's under construction home. It looks wonderful, and it's going to be spectacular when it's finished.Ate breakfast at Slim Goodies this morning. I love that place, have since it opened.
