Dumpling Report 2.1
Jan. 16th, 2011 03:34 pmMade the spaetzle properly - well, mostly properly, I suspect my simmering water was not as hot as it should have been - browned in butter and everything. I had to use frozen eggs because I am down to only one fresh, woe. I will have to check at the farmstand to see if they have eggs, it'll be another couple of months before Sou Food has regular "deliveries" again.
Anyway, spaetzle = yum! Browned in butter, tastes a lot like macaroni and cheese, so I'm going to keep that in mind for when that particular craving hits (and add cheese to the recipe). Surprisingly, at least to me, finding macaroni is the stumbling block I run into when I want to make mac & cheese not from a box.
Recipe says 4-6 servings and that is no lie, so I will be seeing how the leftovers do added to soups and whatever else seems like a good idea for frozen spaetzle.
I need to get potatoes for the next recipe.
