Hooray Solstice
Jun. 21st, 2011 10:45 amMore or less in honor of the summer solstice, I decided to sleep out on the patio last night. Also because it was hot and I figured it would be cooler out there. And it was, but it was also pretty darn mosquitorrific and noisy. I can get a mosquito netting to drape around the glider, which isn't a bad idea even if I don't make a habit of sleeping out there, but I can't do much about the noise. I'll probably get used to the train eventually, I sleep right through it inside and it's not that much louder outside (it is louder though, but it is also louder with the windows open so maybe I can acclimate myself that way) but the mysterious clacking thing flying overhead will probably wig me out until I figure out what it is. Some kind of bird, I'd guess, with a white underbelly, but what a strange noise and apparently bizarre fluttery flying pattern, though I was seeing it without my glasses so who knows what it really looked like? Or if it is a regular visitor - if this is the only time I encounter it it will be a mystery forever!
Anyway, came inside just about dawn to close the windows and crawl into bed for another 4 hours. Still not well-rested, but I don't have to try to get much done today. I do have stuff to do tomorrow, so I will have to think hard about how to get good sleep tonight...
